Before you need it

What happens if a payment fails, you pause, or you leave.

These are the questions people ask after something has gone wrong, when the answer is hardest to find. So here it is in advance, with the actual numbers — and the short version is that nothing is ever deleted for non-payment.

Every stop, in order.

Everything works. The plan renews on its date, add-on seats renew with it, and a receipt lands in your inbox.

Day 0

A payment fails

A card expires, a limit is hit, a bank declines. Your workspace moves to past due and the retry begins. Nothing changes for anyone using it that morning.

Days 1–7

Grace period

You keep working, and a banner names the exact date and time the grace ends so nobody is surprised by it. The payment is retried in the background, and settling it clears the state immediately.

After day 7

Access pauses

Not deleted, not downgraded — paused. You land on the billing screen, and an API call answers 402 Payment Required so an integration can tell a billing pause from an outage. The billing screens stay reachable the whole time, so the fix is always in reach.

Billing screens only

Settle, and you are back

A successful payment clears the past-due state and the grace marker together, and the workspace returns exactly as it was. That also repairs the case where a provider webhook went missing and left the flag behind.

What we hold to

Three things that do not change.

Nothing is deleted for non-payment

Access pauses. The records stay exactly as they were, so settling returns you to the same workspace rather than a fresh one.

The way back is never blocked

Billing screens stay reachable in every state, including after the grace ends. A system that locks you out of the page where you would pay it has locked out its own recovery.

You are told the date

The grace banner carries the exact day and time it ends, not a vague warning. A deadline nobody can read is not a warning.

On your terms

Pausing, stopping, and going.

Stop renewing

Turn auto-renew off in Plans and Billing. The subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops. Add-on seats stop with it — nothing renews on its own behind the plan.

Drop a tier instead

A downgrade takes effect at your next renewal, so you keep what you paid for until then. Features above the new tier become read-only or hidden; the records they created stay, and moving back up returns them.

Take your data

Every register exports to CSV and PDF from its own screen, so what leaves with you is the same data you have been working with rather than a special format you then have to decode.

Questions

Asked at the worst moment.

What happens if a payment fails?
Your workspace moves to a past-due state and a grace period of 7 days begins. Throughout it you keep working exactly as before, with a banner naming the date the grace ends, and the payment is retried.
What happens when the grace period ends?
Access pauses rather than anything being removed. You are taken to the billing screen, and the API answers 402 Payment Required so an integration can tell the difference between a billing pause and a fault. The billing screens themselves stay reachable the entire time, so you can always fix it from inside.
Is my data deleted if I stop paying?
No. Nothing is deleted for non-payment. Access pauses and the records stay exactly as they were, so settling the invoice returns you to the same workspace rather than an empty one.
How do I stop renewing?
Turn auto-renew off in Plans and Billing. The subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops, and add-on seats stop being charged with it — nothing renews behind your back.
What happens to my data if I downgrade a tier?
It stays. Features belonging to the higher tier become read-only or hidden rather than destructive — the records they created are still there, and moving back up returns them.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Every register exports to CSV and PDF from its own screen, so what you take with you is the same data you have been working with rather than a special export format.
