Batch and expiry as first-class facts, FEFO at the point of issue, cold-chain custody, controlled-substance registers, and the difference between stock that is short-dated and stock that is already a write-off.

A batch with four months left is stock you can sell if you move it now. A batch with four days left is a write-off that has not been declared yet. Most pharmacy systems hold both as the same number, and the day the difference becomes visible is the day it stops mattering.
First-expiry-first-out is a sentence in a procedure manual and a suggestion at the point of issue. What decides whether it actually happens is which batch the system proposes when somebody is dispensing at four in the afternoon with a queue.
You type a minimum you are never willing to go below. At one in the morning a scheduled job recalculates it from thirty days of recorded usage and writes its answer over yours. Whether that helps or quietly disarms your low-stock alerts depends on one thing nobody mentions in a demo: which transactions count as usage.
Our asset register knows who holds the cold-chain unit, where it is, what condition it was in at the last hand-off and when it was last verified. It does not know when it is next due for calibration, because no service schedule exists in the product at all.
Offline capture in our mobile app covers exactly four operations, and a stock count is not one of them. For a branch pharmacy with a weak connection that is the single most important sentence in any demo, and it is the one least likely to be said out loud.
One says what left the shelf. The other says who received it and whether they should have. There is no patient in our product, which makes the second question one we cannot answer — and makes it important that nobody buys us believing we can.
