Departments, warehouse locations and stock reason codes

Departments, Locations & Reason Codes

Answer Summary

Three coding dimensions every record is filed against. A department is a flexible cost-centre concept carried on sixteen record types, from users and employees to purchase orders, budgets, projects and tickets. Warehouses hold locations carrying zone, aisle, bay, shelf, bin, a pick sequence, an optional capacity and one of eight storage roles including quarantine. Twenty-five reason codes ship — ten inbound, fifteen outbound — and two of them, Sale and Paid Checkout, carry the flag that makes a check-out post as revenue rather than as consumption.
