Quality Holdnoun

Blocking stock from use or sale pending inspection or a decision.

A quality hold flags received or in-stock units as unavailable while they are inspected, tested or investigated. The stock stays physically present and counted, but the system refuses to allocate it.

Holds are what stop suspect goods reaching customers. Each hold should record who raised it, why, and what released it — that record is the audit trail for any later claim or recall.
