An Import Declaration Form is lodged before goods ship, declaring the intended import with its supplier, value and classification. It is a prerequisite for clearance at the port of entry.

It must be obtained before shipment, not after arrival. Goods that sail without one face penalties and demurrage while the paperwork is corrected retrospectively.
