KRA PINnoun

The taxpayer identification number issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority.

A KRA PIN identifies a taxpayer — individual or entity — across every Kenyan tax obligation: VAT, PAYE, income tax and customs. It appears on tax invoices, import declarations and employment records.

For procurement it is a basic onboarding field. Without a valid PIN a supplier cannot issue a compliant tax invoice, which puts both the expense deduction and the input VAT claim at risk.
