Non-Conformance Reportnoun · abbr.

A formal record of work or goods that failed to meet requirements.

An NCR documents a specific departure from specification, procedure or contract — a rejected delivery, an out-of-tolerance batch, a step performed out of sequence — together with the disposition and corrective action agreed.

Its value lies in the pattern rather than the single event. NCRs analysed by supplier, product and root cause turn scattered complaints into a case for changing something.
