Offline-Firstnoun

Designing software to keep working without a network connection.

An offline-first application stores data locally and treats connectivity as an optimisation rather than a requirement. Work continues in a warehouse basement or a rural site and syncs when a connection returns.

The hard part is reconciling changes made in two places at once. Clear conflict rules — and transactions designed to merge rather than overwrite — are what make the sync trustworthy.
