Nearshoring

Nearshoring relocates sourcing or production from a distant low-cost country to one closer to the market. Unit price typically rises, while freight cost, lead time and exposure to disruption typically fall.

The case for it is rarely visible in unit price alone. It appears in total cost of ownership — smaller safety stock, less capital sitting in transit, and the ability to reorder in weeks rather than months.
