Inventory · Definition
Moving inventory between locations, warehouses or branches.
A stock transfer relocates inventory from one location to another without a sale taking place. It is recorded in two legs — dispatch from the source and receipt at the destination — with the difference sitting in transit.
Tracking goods in transit is what stops transfers becoming a black hole. Until the receiving site confirms, the stock is neither available at source nor countable at destination.
