Harmonised System Code

The Harmonised System is a global product nomenclature maintained by the World Customs Organization. The first six digits are identical everywhere; countries append further digits for their own tariff and statistical purposes.

The code you declare decides the duty rate, so classification is a commercial decision rather than a clerical one. Confirming it before you order — instead of arguing it at the port — is what keeps landed cost predictable.
