Dock-to-Stock Timenoun

How long it takes received goods to become available to pick.

Dock-to-stock measures the elapsed time from a vehicle arriving to the stock being putaway, counted and sellable. Goods sitting on the receiving dock are paid for but cannot be used.

It is one of the most under-measured warehouse metrics. Cutting it releases stock that is already on site, which is the cheapest availability improvement available.

How it is calculated

Dock-to-stock = Time available to pick − Time of arrival

Measured per receipt and averaged; watch the worst cases, not just the mean.
