Warehouse · Definition
A productivity measure of units handled per labour hour.
Units per hour tracks throughput for a task — picking, packing, putaway — against hours worked. It is the basis for labour planning and for judging whether a layout change helped.
It has to be read with care: chasing UPH without watching accuracy trades a fast pick for a costly return. Pair it with error rate before using it to manage people.
UPH = Units handled ÷ Labour hours
Compare like tasks only — picking UPH and packing UPH are not interchangeable.
