Leave Accrualnoun

Leave entitlement building up over time as an employee works.

Leave accrual credits entitlement progressively — commonly a fraction of the annual allowance each month — rather than granting the full year up front. The balance is entitlement earned less leave taken.

Accrued untaken leave is a real liability, payable on exit in most jurisdictions. Tracking it properly is a financial control, not just an HR convenience.

How it is calculated

Monthly accrual = Annual entitlement ÷ 12
