How to take a signature at the moment goods change hands — on a goods receipt, a stock issue, an asset handover or a stock transfer — where the mark is stored, when the signing window closes, and what the signature does and does not prove.

Signature Capture
A captured signature is an operational control, not a legal signing instrument. It gives you a named counterparty, a timestamp, and a window that closes — the mark cannot be added or replaced once the movement has been approved, adjusted, completed or rejected. It is not a cryptographic digital signature: there is no certificate or key pair, and AWRA makes no eIDAS, ESIGN or UETA claim for it. It also does not verify identity; it records the name entered beside the drawing. For most delivery and custody disputes that is enough, because they are settled by showing a person their own mark.

Signature Capture
AWRA can capture a hand-drawn signature at the moment goods change hands — a delivery received (including against a purchase order), stock issued out, an asset handed to a custodian, and a stock transfer, which takes two signatures: one at dispatch and one at receipt. The printed name of the signer and the timestamp are stored with the drawing, the mark prints on the delivery note and the PDF, and it works with no signal because the signature travels with the movement through the offline queue. Signing is always optional and never blocks a stock movement.

API & Webhook Automation
Subscribe an https URL to eight events: order.shipped (stock transfer completed), invoice.created, invoice.paid, purchase_order.created, customer.created, vendor.created, item.low_stock and workflow.webhook. Deliveries carry X-Awra-Event, X-Awra-Delivery, X-Awra-Timestamp and an HMAC X-Awra-Signature, retry with doubling backoff on each endpoint's retry policy, and land in a dead-letter list when they run out. Private and internal addresses are refused.

Signature Capture
These are two different mechanisms and AWRA has both. Signature capture is a pad for someone physically present — the driver at the gate, the custodian taking a laptop. Remote e-signature is for a signer at a distance: a document sent out, tracked and returned, used for vendor purchase-order acknowledgement, employment contracts and supplier prequalification, through the document e-signature connector. AWRA does not put a drawing pad on expense, budget or procurement approvals: an approval by a logged-in user against a permission, written to the audit trail, is stronger evidence than a drawn mark.

A finger on a screen, a printed name, a timestamp — taken at the loading bay, the store counter or the desk where a laptop is handed over. AWRA keeps the mark on the movement record and prints it on the delivery note, so “we never received that” stops being a matter of who remembers harder.

On a phone, a signature is a swipe — and a swipe is also how you scroll a list, dismiss a sheet and pull to refresh. Who wins that gesture decides whether you capture a signature or the first inch of one. What signing on a device actually takes, why the mark travels as text rather than as a file, and the four questions to ask any vendor.

Asset Tracking
Completing an asset maintenance work order, on the web or in the AWRA mobile app, can carry up to six photos of the finished job and the signature and printed name of whoever accepted the work. Both are optional and shown on the work order as proof of work, served only to people who can view maintenance. A photo or signature that cannot be stored never blocks the completion, and in the app a completion made with no signal is queued and sent on reconnect.
