Warehouse Map, Storage Rules & Assigned Phones
See a warehouse laid out zone by zone and bin by bin, measure how it is working, stop stock going into a bin that must not hold it, and assign a phone to one warehouse so everything it posts lands there.
The Warehouse Map
Open a warehouse and choose Warehouse Map (/warehouses/{id}/map). It lays the warehouse out as zone, then aisle, then bins, using the placement fields each location already has (zone, aisle, bay, shelf and bin). Each bin shows what it holds against its capacity, coloured as empty, within capacity, high (80% or more), over capacity, or holding stock with no capacity set. Bins without a zone or aisle appear under Unzoned or No aisle rather than being left off, because an unmapped bin holding stock is exactly what a map should show you. The totals count bins, mapped bins, bins with storage rules, stock on hand, and bins that are over capacity or empty. The same map is in the mobile app.
Warehouse Productivity
Reports → Warehouse Productivity shows how a warehouse is working rather than what it holds. Each figure follows a stated definition:
- Picks per person: one pick is one stock-out line someone handled, whether a check-out line, a dispatched transfer or a POS sale line. It counts lines, not units, so picking one pallet of 400 is one pick.
- Receiving delay: the days from the order's expected date (the supplier's promised date, otherwise the purchase order delivery date) to its first check-in. Orders with no expected date are counted as no date, not as on time.
- Count variance rate: the share of counted lines that had a variance, in counts approved during the period.
- Transit time: average days in transit, and how long the transfers still on the road have been travelling.
- Bin heatmap: movement lines per bin per day, busiest bins first, for up to the last 31 days.
Storage Rules On A Bin
On a location, you can declare what it may hold. On the item, record its hazard class and storage temperature. AWRA then checks every write that adds stock to the bin, whether a receipt, check-in, transfer or return, and refuses it with a message saying where the stock should go.
- Hazard classes: the bin accepts only the UN dangerous-goods classes you tick. An item with a different hazard class is refused. An item with no hazard class is not restricted.
- Temperature range: the bin's whole range must fit inside the item's. A bin that can reach 8 °C is wrong for an item that must stay below 5 °C, even though most of its range is fine. A range can have just a minimum or just a maximum.
- Minimum shelf life: a batch with fewer days to expiry than the bin's minimum is refused.
A bin with no rules accepts anything, so bins created before these rules existed work exactly as they did. Capacity is still only a warning. These rules refuse, because acid stored next to food, or a vaccine on an ambient shelf, cannot be fixed afterwards by recording it correctly.
A Phone Assigned To One Warehouse
In the Offline Operations screen, give a phone an Assigned warehouse. From then on, every stock write from that phone is held to that warehouse: counts, adjustments, holds and releases, transfers (including pick, pack and receipt), POS, receiving inspections and assembly orders. A request naming a different warehouse is refused with a message naming both, never silently moved. The assignment applies to whoever signs in on the phone, including an admin, because the phone fixed to the Mombasa receiving bay is in Mombasa. Web browsers are not affected. A user whose account is restricted to one warehouse is held to it in the same way.
Deleting A Warehouse That Still Holds Stock
Deleting a warehouse moves what it still holds into your default warehouse and bin. Before anything moves, every line is checked against the default bin's storage rules. If any line cannot go there, nothing is moved or deleted, and the message lists each item that is blocking it. Held stock (quarantined, awaiting inspection, damaged and so on) moves with its status, reason and holder, into a row of its own. Merging it into available stock would release it without anyone deciding to.
