Sandbox Workspace
A separate workspace holding a copy of your setup and none of your records. Try an approval chain, a budget block or a new role there before you switch it on for real people.
This is your organization’s own sandbox, created from Settings. It is different from the public product demo on our website, which anyone can open without an account.
Creating The Sandbox
- Open Settings → Security & Devices → Sandbox.
- Click Create sandbox. Each workspace has one sandbox at a time.
- Click Open sandbox to step in. A banner shows on every page while you are inside, with Back to my workspace to step out.
What Is Copied In
- Roles and their permissions.
- Approval rules. A step that names a person becomes an Admin step, because people are not copied. A rule limited to a department applies to every department in the sandbox.
- Procurement defaults, including budget control.
- AI settings.
Left behind: your records (items, vendors, customers, documents), your people and departments, and integrations, API keys and audit streaming.
Why It Is Safe
- Nobody signs in to it. An administrator steps in from their own session as a sandbox user whose address can never receive a sign-in link, and can step out only back to the person who stepped in.
- It sends no email. Anything sent while the sandbox is the current workspace, or addressed to a sandbox user, is held back.
- Nothing reaches your real workspace. The sandbox is a separate workspace with its own records.
- Creating, entering and discarding the sandbox are written to your audit log.
Rebuild Or Discard
Rebuild from current setup throws the sandbox away and creates a new one from today’s configuration — use it after you have changed roles or rules in the real workspace. Discard removes it and everything tried in it.
Permissions
- View settings — see the Sandbox page.
- Edit settings — create, open, rebuild and discard the sandbox.
